Sex Therapy + Perinatal Mental Health

Postpartum Intimacy Therapy in California

Support for sexuality, desire, body changes, identity, grief, communication, and connection after pregnancy, birth, loss, or family-building transitions.

Postpartum intimacy is not just about when someone is ready to have sex again. It can include grief, desire changes, pain, touch aversion, pleasure, identity, body trust, relationship strain, feeding, sleep, trauma, and the quiet pressure many people feel to return to a version of themselves that no longer fits.

ROAM offers care at the intersection of sex therapy and perinatal mental health. Sessions are collaborative, trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and paced to your goals, whether you are navigating postpartum adjustment, pregnancy or infant loss, fertility treatment, adoption, surrogacy, or another family-building path.

Fees & Access

Session Fee & Access

$200per 50-minute session

ROAM offers self-pay therapy for clients who are able to pay the standard session fee. Self-pay means paying directly for therapy rather than using insurance. ROAM does not currently take insurance.

ROAM's standard fee is $200 per 50-minute psychotherapy session with Hiromi "Romi" Ortega Roque, AM, LCSW (CA #126338), PMH‑C. Fees are paid to ROAM Therapy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and help sustain clinical services, operations, and access-centered programming.

Therapy fees are payment for services and are not tax-deductible donations. Reduced-fee availability depends on current funding and program capacity, and fees are discussed clearly before intake.

A Bridge Between Specialties

Sex Therapy Lens

Care can include desire, pleasure, pain, sexual shame, consent, communication, relationship patterns, and sexual health conversations.

Perinatal Mental Health Lens

Care can also hold anxiety, grief, identity changes, birth trauma, loss, intrusive thoughts, exhaustion, and adjustment to caregiving.

Body Autonomy Lens

Sessions move at your pace, with attention to choice, boundaries, cultural humility, lived experience, and what feels possible now.

Care That Can Work Alongside Your Team

Some postpartum sexual wellness concerns benefit from coordinated support. ROAM can help clients think through questions for medical providers and, when appropriate, provide warm referrals to OB/GYN, midwifery, pelvic floor physical therapy, reproductive health, HIV/STI, lactation, or perinatal psychiatry resources.

Therapy at ROAM does not replace medical evaluation. It can offer a grounded place to reduce shame, clarify what matters, and make decisions with more support.
